Homage To Caspar David Friedrich
The form of the pyramid is said to represent a solidified sunray; it is a container of darkness, an enigma. The enigma is re-inforced by a set of dates: 1774 - 1840. They are those of the German romantic landscape painter, Caspar David Friedrich, and the pyramid is appropriately surrounded by a 'northern' landscape of evergreens.
This work features in the Inside The Garden At Little Sparta exhibition.
